This guide is for first-time users of the OpenAI API. It covers the essential steps from creating an account to generating and managing your API Key. Follow these steps to get started with the OpenAI API immediately.

1. Create an Account & Login

To use the OpenAI API, you need an account on the developer platform. 👉 Access the console via the link below: OpenAI API Platform

• Quick Login: You can sign up easily using Google, Microsoft, or Apple accounts.
• Email Signup: You can also create a new account using your email address.
• Once logged in, you will enter the OpenAI Dashboard.

2. Generate API Key

In this step, you will create a unique key that allows your applications to communicate with OpenAI's models.

👉 Navigate to API Keys

• Click on the "API Keys" tab (indicated by a key icon) on the left sidebar.

👉 Create a New Key

• Click the “+ Create new secret key” button.
• Name: Enter a descriptive name for the key (e.g., test-key, bim-project).
• Project: Leave it as Default project unless you have specific project settings.
• Click the Create secret key button.
